چکیده
(Abridged) We present an analysis of the 700 ks Chandra ACIS-S observation field around Spiderweb Galaxy at z=2.156, focusing on nuclear activity in associated large-scale environment. identify unresolved X-ray sources down to flux limits 1.3X10^{-16} and 3.9X10^{-16} erg/s/cm^2 soft hard band, respectively. search for counterparts optical, NIR submm bands belonging protocluster. detect 107 within 5 arcmin (corresponding 2.5 Mpc) J1140-2629, among which 13 have optical with spectroscopic redshift 2.11~1.84+-0.04. The best-fit absorption protocluster members N_H>10^{23} cm^{-2}, while other 6 upper order fewX10^{22} cm^{-2}. Two can only be fitted very flat \Gamma<=1, are therefore considered Compton-thick candidates. Their 0.5-10 keV rest frame luminosities larger than 2X10^{43} erg/s, significantly greater expected from star formation activity. luminosity function AGN volume range 10^{43}10.5, corresponding enhancement 6.0^{+9.0}_{-3.0} respect COSMOS comparable redshifts conclude galaxy population Protocluster characterized by enhanced triggered environmental effects Mpc scales.

SpiderWeb honeycombs
A new class of hierarchical fractal-like honeycombs inspired by the topology of the “spiderweb” were introduced and their small and large deformations were investigated analytically, numerically, and experimentally. Small deformation elasticity results show that the isotropic in-plane elastic moduli (Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio) of the structures can be controlled over several orders of...

متن کاملSpiderweb Masks for High-Contrast Imaging
Motivated by the desire to image exosolar planets, recent work by us and others has shown that high-contrast imaging can be achieved using specially shaped pupil masks. To date, the masks we have designed have been symmetric with respect to a cartesian coordinate system but were not rotationally invariant, thus requiring that one take multiple images at different angles of rotation about the ce...
متن کاملAvoiding the Software Model-Clash Spiderweb
Computer A nalysts frequently describe troubled projects with the tar pit metaphor used so effectively in Fred Brooks’s The Mythical Man-Month (2nd ed., AddisonWesley, Reading, Mass., 1995). We have found a similarly effective metaphor: Think of a troubled software project as an insect caught in a spiderweb of sticky constraints, trying desperately to break free before the spider arrives to feed.
متن کاملThe Spiderweb Galaxy: a Forming Massive Cluster Galaxy
We present a deep image of the radio galaxy MRC 1138 262 taken with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) at a redshift of . The galaxy is known to have properties of a cD galaxy progenitor and be surrounded z p 2.2 by a 3 Mpc–sized structure, identified with a protocluster. The morphology shown on the new deep HST ACS image is reminiscent of a spider’s web. More than 10 individual clumpy features a...
